I bemoaned that for years as NPPA's The Best of Photojournalism arrived in 
the mail each year.

It's mostly bad news, but that's the way news is, I guess.

It's not news when a 747 doesn't crash.

When a hurricane came through Little Washington, I didn't take pictures of 
places nothing was damaged.

It's a sticky question that leaves the world (and us) with a skewed vision 
of the world.

It reminds me of the the year or so my mother worked at the Sheriff's 
department after her retirement. She has yet to recover the positive outlook 
she had before spending her days around a world of crime.
