Jayanand,
The image is excellent. But the problem with the color, as I see it, is the
strong contrast between the color of the temple and the muted color of the
surrounding scene. I have seen the Golden Temple from a viewpoint nearly
identical to the one you used to take the picture. The temple color neither
stands out as brightly as you have shown, nor is the surrounding area as
muted. It might have seemed a good idea to highlight the temple by
decreasing the saturation of the surrounding area. We do the same sort of
thing in our mind with memorable scenes. But it is slightly unsettling to
see it in what purports to be an objective photo. There is a common TV
advertising technique in the US which increases the emphasis on a product by
desaturating all colors but those of the product itself. I certainly hope
the technique has not penetrated India. But then there are no ads on TV in
that most colorful of countries. Despite my carping, I still like the
picture.
