Hi Alan,

thanks for taking a look and your comment about the 
background  -  backgrounds are always a problem, 
particularly with flowers shot like this.

Here's the lily against a plain background with a 
luminous, soft-light fill

The story behind the shot:

The Lily was part of a project I did back in early 2005 
to fill in the time "between jobs" (after my last 
contract as a geophysical consultant and not long 
before my translation business really took off) and I 
tried various backgrounds and various post-processing 
steps at the time - and I'm still not sure which are 
most appropriate.

The subjects ranged from simple crocuses

to bird of paradise flowers

and ended up being edited down to around 2500 different 
shots from which one was ultimately selected and sold 
for use on the website of a German high-end Hi-Fi 
manufacturer:
