Tina, Ted, and Brian,

As a former runner I can assure you that while exercise works to firm up
your body it is a very hard way to lose weight. One pound of fat is
approximately 3500 calories. A half hour of fast walking burns up only about
200 calories. You would have to walk almost 18 hours to lose a pound of fat.
A slice of apple pie requires five hours of walking to work off. A far
better exercise is pushing yourself away from the table. Reducing your food
intake by 500 calories a day will shave off a pound a week. Or go to work as
a lumberjack. ;-)
