Peter,

I have the same problem and have Googled unsuccessfully for a shorter IEC 
320 C7 connector power cable. 

So, I plan to take the bull by the tail and face the situation, as the old 
joke goes, an go to my local computer supply house and buy a replacement 
cord, cut it in half, get out my soldering iron, and splice it to about 
one-and-a-half feet long. Or, I may just sacrifice my Leica-supplied US 
connector cable and cut it down to size. Why not?

I know of no other solution.
