In 1959 I was in high school in Rock Island, Illinois. I had a part time job
in a camera store that was an authorized Nikon and Leica dealer. The manager
and I took a 36 exposure roll of Kodachrome and ran it half through a Nikon,
using a variety of Nikon lens, one shot wide open and one shot closed down
with each. We then rewound the film and put it in a Leica, wound it forward
and repeated the exercise using Leica lenses. The Leica results were
clearly superior.

So I bought an M3 with a 50mm 1.5 Summarit. I was the only one in my high
school who had one <g> and I did pay for it out of my salary.

Since then I've owned, used, bought and sold a variety of Leica gear. I try
to stay happy with what I have.
