Thanks for your comments, Lluis.  For this particular photo I took advantage 
of the strong winds from the north.  I waited near the birds' favorite 
feeding area and as the bird flew toward the feeding area from the south 
their ground speed was much slower than if there had been no wind.  
Following the bird with the camera was much easier this way.  This 
particular photo is un-cropped.  I'm a little disappointed that I lost some 
of the bird's toes but otherwise I'm very happy with this photo.
