Howard, I don't believe you were intentionally trying to frighten Alastair, 
but having no experience with the DMR, what's your basis for the belief that 
it would not survive the harsh conditions you depicted?  I see absolutely no 
foundation for your belief.

Perhaps those who are interested can contact jaapv who is an l-camera-forum 
moderator and I believe has taken his DMR to Africa.
