Of course, with current lenses, but there are other ways around that.
I've been thinking about it for a long time.  I have a Contax AX
somewhere that works pretty well and the improvements in small motors
and processing power in the intervening 20 years has been enormous.

I'm very interested in improving AF accuracy, much more so than speed,
including on existing AF cameras.  I can't figure out why
manufacturers can't chart the focus shift of all their lenses, then
have the camera adjust the focus accordingly.  That would make much
more difference to the optical quality of photos than any other
improvement I can think of, including sensors with more pixels.
