Definitely invest in silica gel packets or canisters for use while storing
your gear down there. The cloth shutters can be affected badly by humidity,
the lenses and rangefinder optics too if you are careless about drying
cameras out or protecting from extreme humidity. Normal caution is advised
if you plan to own your Leica for a long time and would like to keep it out
of the expensive repair shop.
