Herb , no you cannot do this tethered and Phil has covered the insurance
approach for your file numbering perfectly. By the way, in fact you do not
lose any of your other menu settings with upgrading despite the
conservative warning from Leica Camera. That has been the case for several
generations of firmware. I don't know about any custom profiles. Only a few
momets to cherack through your menus after of course.
The new warning to avoid the latest Sandisk SDHC cards is interesting. I
have had no problems with them (nor any previous Sandisk cards). The mumber
of previously reported problems was actually very low but nevertheless
prompted this. Flash and camera exposure faults waking from standby were
looked at too but nothing has emerged on whether that was addressed as yet
