Beautiful picture and text. I often wonder too, when seeing abandoned houses 
around the Spanish countryside, similar to what you show except that here, 
the structures are made or stone and brick rather than wood.

And you end with a quote from James Baldwin--a writer I "discovered" only 
recently but it was a revelation.
