Or, like I did, to buy just before launch of the next great thing, and take 
advantage of large discounts available at the point from manufacturers and 
retailers alike. That is how I got my M8 in December 2008, and 3 years later 
it still takes half-decent pictures ;-) so I have no intention of selling it.

To try to rationalize photo equipment purchases from a financial point of 
view is futile unless you are a professional.
