Welcome, Ryan!  I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the quality of
the M8's photos compared to the Canon 20D.  Rangefinder focusing can be a
challenge, especially with quick moving children, but don't give up.
 Practice, practice, practice!  That's the great advantage of digital.

Enjoy your M8.  Looking forward to seeing your photos.
