Hi Howard, it was on Matrix and had been working fine since I got it. Seems
OK on inside shots but something knocks it badly for outside shots. 
It does give very good results if exposed correctly ;-)

John,
Something is wrong with your X100! Mine does a very competent job of dealing
with a variety of
difficult lighting conditions.
Look at this shot taken in multi exposure mode on the Star Ferry:

Are you locked in spot metering somehow?
