I'm with Mark. I can't imagine that the S2 is any bigger or heavier than my
D3, which I've schlepped all over Africa and Italy, with only the slightest
regret. And, when I was shooting professionally, at least ten of those
forty years were using a Hasselblad and flash hand held tromping around oil
refineries and chemical plants. I was younger and more flexible in those
days. Still, I would, were I to win the powerball, devote my next trip to
Italy entirely to S2 photography.

Yes some would argue with this opinion as most DSLR'S from Canon and Nikon
and who ever else are about the same size. Some a little bigger some a
little smaller. And these cameras, full frame dslrs' are being used all day
every day outside by photojournalists. As well as every other type of
photographer you can name - full frame DSLR's rule right now much more so
than SLR's ruled in the 90''s because people use DSLR's to do what 645's did
before as well as Hasselblads.
Its just that medium format digital really is a whole lot better.
And an S2 is a medium format camera disguised as a regular full frame DSLR
from sunny Germany.
To imply its design makes it of limited use is not realistic.
This camera is imminently usable for most of just about anything.
Take one to the bottom of the ocean.

Yes with a little bit of luck a camera configured more like an M9 will be
put more in the running. And I'd assume soon. If not I'm sure we'll be
running out of all the nice stuff we've been saying about Leica's new savior
and boss.

I saw and held an S2 in 2010 when I attended a workshop on using the M9.
