There are a number of these "mud sales" in the heart of Amish Lancaster County from late February through March--the idea behind them is to raise money for local volunteer fire companies. The sales feature baked goods, livestock, farm equipment, antiques, quilts, and all manner of "stuff" for sale by auction. Five or six auctioneers are working simultaneously at times!
