I'm also a happy user of FreeNAS.  I use it for a variety of purposes,
including sharing via AFS and as a repository for Time Machine
backups.  It isn't a simple "open the box and turn it on" kind of
thing but it's not that hard to make sense of.  I'm happy to help if
you get flummoxed.
