The article makes it sound easier than it is; there is a lot of technique involved, you don't just pick it up in 20 minutes. The balls indeed are just tennis balls, the court dimensions are the same. But because you can play off the walls too, mindless smashing is not always effective--more points are won by placing the ball so that it bounces off the wall in a corner and just dies there.
