Would those lead bags have saved the day?? I think the next time I fly I'm
going to hide my film in them in my checked luggage.
Sorry for your bad luck!

Subject: [Leica] Security in Dublin Airport now insist on scanning film

Hi everyone,

Long time! Just thought I'd alert everyone that on a recent flight to
Napoli from JFK, I had a connecting flight in Dublin and still had to pass
through security there which included metal detectors and new x-ray
machines.

Despite all of my protests and proving that I was a professional
photographer, they insisted that I would have to either have my film
scanned or miss my flight and and not be eligible for a refund. I was
assured that ISO 400 film would be safe though I had numerous rolls of
3200. They scanned all 55 rolls.

Have just received the film back and for only the second time since 9/11, I
have a batch of film with fogging and patterns from the x-rays. Furious.

Their policy is that nothing will be hand checked and that all film
including motion picture film reels will be x-rayed.

Just a warning.
