Subject: [Leica] Leica 14464 Battery......

I bought some non-OEM batteries ( about $15 each) lately and they were not
as good as my first ( 2 year ago) aftermarket purchases. Would not charge
all the way or at least the camera battery indicator thought so
..They are
only a few months old
 they should have done better.

I decided to make sure I always had 1 real OEM battery to be sure
.. My OEM
battery shipped with the camera is still going strong but it is 2 ? years
old.

Bought a new OEM Battery from an EBay supplier last week. The picture in
the ad matched my old battery

I figured all OK.

I got the battery today. It was in an official silver/black Leica box,
noted with ?Made in EU?. Looks like a real OEM Box.

Opened up the box and in a piece of bubble wrap is a Battery. It is molded
on the wide face with a bunch of recyclable indicators and a whole bunch of
Cyrillic printing. No Leica anything. The other side ( non-flat) has a
small sticker that indicates it is for Leica M8. A big difference to the
AD picture.

I compared it to my original M8 battery, shipped with the camera, and there
is no comparison that it is the same manufacturing process
 the old one has
molded

Printing in the flat side and nothing on the other side. There is no Leica
Logo anywhere, but then again, there was none on my older battery either
.

I am a bit suspicious
.. Russia and other countries using Cyrillic are not
part of the EU
. But this may speak to the use of ,,, MADE IN XXXX, in
Germany, and nothing more.

I don?t give a care that it is different, made by Gypsies in Romania, or
otherwise, but I would like to know that it is a real Leica OEM
product
..with attendant quality.

Someone that just bought a new M9, preferably in Europe: Would you please
look at your battery and reinforce my findings?

Thanks
