Sony makes sensors for a lot of Japanese digital cameras. Canon makes their own SLR sensors but buys small point-n-shoot camera sensors from others. Nikon has used Sony sensors in most of their SLRs, and they've designed some of their own, which some internet sources say are made for them by Sony. Sony makes sensors for their own cameras, for Pentax, and for at least some Nikons. -- Chris Crawford Fine Art Photography Fort Wayne, Indiana 260-437-8990 http://www.chriscrawfordphoto.com My portfolio http://blog.chriscrawfordphoto.com My latest work! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Christopher-Crawford/48229272798 Become a fan on Facebook On 5/31/12 6:55 AM, "Douglas Nygren" <douglasnygren at yahoo.com> wrote: >Over the years, I haven't bought Leica products because of the Red dot. >While I like the M camera body, it is the Leica lenses that stand >out. It's their designs, their standards, that make a difference. >Leica buys the sensors for its cameras from other companies.Leica's >expertise is glass, not sensors. >I don't feel their sensors are anything special. >Cheers--Doug > >_______________________________________________ >Leica Users Group. >See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information
