I prefer the vertical, but cropped at the top and bottom to almost a square.

Or, try burning the crates (?) behind the cat in the horizontal version.
They are slanted and being too light they are distracting; they pull your
eye away away from the main focus of the scene (cat and hands).

My $.02.
