[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]an interesting flap in the boston globe today about the photos commissioned by the racist professor Agassiz at Harvard from JT Zealy in Columbia SC. a swiss anti-racism group tried obtaining permission to show some of the photos in their exhibition in grindelwald but received an email from Harvard stating " its curators found ?some of the language in your exhibition materials, although interesting, aggressive towards Agassiz, who was a very influential figure at Harvard.? so the swiss anti-racism folks are going ahead with silhouettes they have created of the slave daguerrotypes "but also the relevant e-mail exchanges with the employees of both Harvard museums ? which, even if they were sent partly in error, give the exhibit an extra punch. ?Sometimes,?
