Strangely enough I find the electronic eye-level viewfinders in the micro
4/3 cameras quite useable. I had an Olympus E3, which had a hugely
sophisticated optical viewfinder but was completely hobbled by the small
mirror/focusing screen. My Panasonic GH1 viewfinder is larger and brighter
than that and I can focus fine using it. You have to set the camera to
switch off the instant view facility otherwise the viewfinder doesn't stay
"live" after a shot. It is my second most used camera after the M9.
Other than that I don't find it to be too big a problem. Certainly it is no
Leica R8, but I much prefer it to the budget mirror "prism" viewfinders on
inexpensive dSLRs.
Clearly we all have different tastes!
