Tina *Possibly* may not be a hardware problem although that sounds likely.
It *might* need a reinstall of a driver.
what operating system do you have? Any recent upgrades?
I got my Coolscan V working on Windows 7 64 bit with a small fiddle on the
software. The original Nikon software has never been upgraded for late
operating systems (nor is ever likely to be) but you can trick it.
Does the scanner work with your Silverfast software?
How about Vuescan?
Does another USB device work on the port in your computer?
Did you try plugging the scanner into a different USB port?
