[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]Hi George, Thank you good Sir. :-) I suppose much of my lack of enthusiasm about the new cameras' is; I know in my heart it's not likely I'll ever have one nor shoot the assignments of my past with any of them. :-( If I were "working on new projects as in the olden Golden Days! :-) I'd have my order in as usual... 3 M's, Black bodies as soon as possible and sell off the older gear as soon as the new arrived and get on shooting the project! Whatever it maybe with a purpose. Part of my situation these days is, "not shooting with a purpose and an end result of a story or documentary." I have had people tell me "get over it and go out and take pictures!" Like for what reason? Only to down load to a computer screen with the enthusiasm of a wet dish rag and hit delete all? That always "go out and take pictures" was in the learning curve of 60 years ago. And yes, we never stop learning. But it's the "what are the results for and purpose for shooting them?" I suppose a hard thing for many to understand, these feelings? What is happening to my enthusiasm and excitment of new camera models that will allow one to work faster with better captured results and quality? And not care one way or another? I suppose it's part of the moving on of time, age and "you've done almost every possible assignment there is?" I ask myself... "If I win the lottery big-time will I order three new "M's" and a few new lenses to replace those I've sold?" But as quickly I ask..... "What for?" Are they or would they just allow me to make a "better quality exposure without enthusiasm? Then delete?" It's an interesting dilemma I'm facing and I'm not sure what the answer is? I don't believe new equipment would make much difference or sense. However? If someone said "OK we have the funding to complete your medical book trilogy about Sir William Osler and the medical students about the world!" I have no doubt I'd be out the door faster than one can fly! And with new gear hanging off the neck and shoulders. Why? Well it would be an absolute purpose for taking the pictures, rather than walking about putting in time.... just clicking!
