In 1966 I bought a new M2 body in HK for $131 US. That would equal around
$900 in today's money, so still not cheap, but within reason for a middle
class pocketbook.  It's worth remembering, though, that $131 was
considerably cheaper than the US retail price.

I still have the M2 and an M3 I bought around the same time.  Both still
work fine.  Pretty inexpensive on a per annum basis.
