The light can change quite quickly, I think it is more not seeing a shot as 
you have a wide range of focal lengths available.......

John's abstract subjects usually don't move, so there shouldn't be any 
problem with switching lenses and the resulting "loss" of time IMHO But I 
might be wrong.
