Richard, it comes down to the limits of acceptable parallax control.  A
dual range Summicron can focus down to 19" or so because the goggles
correct the viewfinder view for the closer distance.  With the appropriate
viewfinder correction lens there is no reason you couldn't focus down half
again closer.  The issue would be the cost versus buying an SLR.
