Subject: [Leica] Rangefinder focusing limit

Idle wonder time: what limits the close focusing range of a rangefinder, as
comparing to SLR lens? I imagine it's something inherent to the rangefinder
design?

Furthermore, why is that the Leica can focus down to 3 feet or so, but the
Mamiya 6/7 can only focus down to about 6 feet?

Optical design or rangefinder limitation?
