In my case - It's often just where I find myself.
Say - sitting at a restaurant with a small group of people
(who I'd like to photograph)
very often puts me at a specific working distance
(which was always too close for the Noctilux - frustrating!).
Getting up; pushing chairs back (when not in an immovable booth)
never feels quite right and usually ruins the candid moment
as everyone becomes aware of "the photographer" and his process.
