Why this concern about DNG? It's an open specification. How would Adobe make 
it go away? Suddenly every specification for the DNG format will vanish?

I don't think so. 

Now the software that makes the conversion between Camera X's proprietary 
RAW format might vanish but not the format itself.

I image Leica, whose cameras make DNG format, would have some thoughts on 
that.
