I am working on a locked down XP box currently (the joy of Govt agencies) so
cannot say exactly, in device manager there are options for device
controllers where the SATA drivers show up, should be the same driver for
internal or external I think. If you open device manager and no icon has a
yellow circle over it then things are probably all working fine.

In disk manager you can right click somewhere (perhaps that word itself on
the left) and 'rescan' which may find the eSATA

What would it be listed under in Device Manager? I can't find it.

Thanks,
