I think there is utter confusion in this thread between "Automatic" and
"Aperture Priority" mode. In all the modern camera bodies I have used "A"
stands for the latter, not the former. The new "Automatic" mode is called
"Program Mode", where the camera makes all the decisions regarding
exposure, i.e. no user input necessary at all.
