And then when they do not take action in some situations, and somebody 
suffers or dies, the other half of the world is upset at them.  Being a 
policeperson in this country is a thankless job.  I'll admit there are 
extremes on both ends of the spectrum, but I am thankful for most police and 
the often thankless job they do.
