Doug,

I have been shooting the X-Pro as a B&W. I assume that my comments will
apply to
the X100 too.

Yes, it works in that you can shoot in B&W mode with various filters.
However if
you want to shoot in RAW you end up loading a colour image into LR and then
you
have to apply the relevant filters to the image again.

As a result have the advantage of the RAW file, and while in the camera you
can
see it as you imagined it - or at least as it turned out! But in LR the
camera
isn't providing what you pre-visualised. I had presumed that there would be a
boxcar file that would be passed to LR with the precise settings, but alas
no.

Upshot: The X-Pro is a great camera, very much in the classic M mould (but
digital) and will take M lenses. Imagewise, you get the flexibility to
reconvert
your image to B&W and rework it to your heart's content, but it ISNT a
Monochrom. The greyscale depth is good but not as good as the images from
the M

With regard to the specific issue of JPEGs I don't know, since I only shoot
RAW.
Maybe in JPEG it will work just like a MM, but Gerry Walden can tell you more
about it.
