I did just that, and when I go to import on the desktop from the new catalogue created from the laptop with the changed files, it imports duplicates, even with the no duplicates checked. Should I not have the metadata be in an xmp file? Should I delete my LR preferences file and then reestablish my preferences? I thought exactly like your suggestion, but not working for me... Same version of LR. Different ver. of Mac O/S. Stumped...
