Ken:

Thanks Ken!

The Pentax istDS is one of the early models with a weak hot mirror
(infrared blocking) filter.

So on a very bright mid-summer day I can get away with a 720 filter to
see enough through the viewfinder to compose.

But, from about 2pm and later, I usually use the 680 'cause it's not as
dark as the 720.

Someday I might get the Pentax converted to IR, but as long as my old
eyes can still compose with the 680 or 720 that's good enough for me.

On the other hand, the Pentax K10D has too strong a hot mirror filter,
so it's more of a candidate for a conversion.

On TLRs it doesn't make any difference, so I use the 720 whenever I can
score some "frozen all its life" Konica IR film.

One can still find EFKE IR infrequently but it is so slow with a 720
that it ends up with a sunny 16 of 1 second... at f16!

I use my Rollei 2.8f and my Mamiyaflex 220f that way.

Best Regards,

Jim Hemenway
