Should be around $25.  This will connect with a USB 3 interface.

Then you buy whatever bare 3.5 inch drive you want.  The bare OEM drives are 
as cheap as you can go.  

Rent a safe deposit box at a bank, and put your backups there.  Swap the 
drives as often as you want.  Fire, flood, and earthquake safe.

I love Carbon Copy Cloner (on a Mac) to run the backups.  Every day I get an 
email telling me that the backup is working.
