And a couple of extra film magazines. It was always checked as luggage on planes. In the car? In the trunk! And yes the spare magazines were loaded ready to go, as were the magazines attached to the cameras! The shoulder camera bag was all Leica gear and came on board for under-seat storage. Once seated, always on the isle! "IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPENED?" You "might get out faster? Or help others to do so! :-) I always took one M Leica, new 36 roll loaded out of bag with a 21mm lens! In case shooting interiors of plane. Set a general exposure with the 21mm lens hanging camera on my leg, camera lens facing into my leg for lens protection! Obviously no lens cap! Why? It slows ones re-actions as just something to distract from instantly .. CLICK!" Then sit back and relax! But always ready in case anything should occur? Once I became fully accustomed to the gear, the magazines and commercial clients accepted 35mm film & the HASSELBLADS went the way of the doo-doo bird and were sold off. Plus a great deal of my assignments became more documentary and shot in B&W. Quite a relief! And more fun than the commercial assignments. Let's say a few "incidents" in small fixed wing aircraft and a helicopter on fire. :-( Oh yeah and it was 50 below zero when we hard hit landed!
