Nathan,
I shoot a lot of polo, and I use my 250mm and frequently double it with my
2x, both on a Leica: the very capable R8/DMR. The results are very Leica. I
consistently need "long" and the Leica is very much for me.

I also use the R8/DMR before the action to shoot the tailgates and sideline
shots with my 35mm, 60mm and 135mm lenses.

I also use the same R8/DMR after the action using my 19mm and 28mm for the
awards.

All on one Leica, the same R8/DMR throughout. Quite a versatile kit, both
short and long.

If you need a 300mm lens then yes, Leica is not for you. As far as 100mm
macro, the 100mm Apo Macro Elmarit is the best lens I have ever held in my
hands, period. I am no fan boy, but this is simply the greatest lens I have
ever experienced.

Cheers,
Nathan
