Tina, Yes, one of the reasons I chose to go with f4.5 rather than wide
open, where they would have been perfect circles.

When I find a bloom this nice with no browning, I capture it as best I can.

Shooting white flowers at midday means shooting in the shade, and magnolias
with their big leaves have lots of openings to the sky.

Another problem encountered with Magnolias (in these parts) is that the
trees are trimmed so you can mow beneath them often putting the perfect
flower out of reach.

To compensate, I subdued the whites in camera raw filter, then burned them
in some, cropping out most blobs on the left and letting the ones on the
right balance the negative space.
