The Sony a7-series cameras are a mix of curse and blessings IMHO. The menus
can be baffling & confounding, the buttons & other controls too fiddle and
difficult to use when wearing gloves.

OTOH the image quality the sensor can provide is outstanding, the ability to
use other makers? lenses is unmatched in SLR-land and the additional WYSIWYG
dimension of the EVF is mind-altering. The AF of most models (a9 excepted)
isn?t up to the standards of the best SLR cameras OTOH since the AF is on
the sensor there?s never any front-focus, back-focus or AF micro-adjustment
unless using one of the Sony adapters for A-mount lenses.

Beginning with the a7II the full-frame E-mount cameras have a stabilized
sensor that works with adapted lenses such as Leica-R.

I?ve found that the a7rII?s 42MP results in much less aliasing in fine
feather detail. YMMV.
