I have had problems bringing my Gitzo carbon fibre tripod as a carry-on. A
TSA inspector once asked to open my bag to inspect my Leitz table tripod,
but once it was established that it was not a weapon or something that is
likely to be used as one, I was allowed to carry it on board.
