I swore by Capture for a couple of years, until my iMac and Lightroom purchase. I just made some Lightroom presets to get a similiar look that Capture used to do for me. NEF high iso's still appear smoother in Capture/NX than Lightroom, but not enough to make me switch back and forth all the time. >From some reviews I've seen, the new LR 1.3 handles NEF files on the D300 >and D3 just excellent.
