I use the 35mm Jupiter-12 which extends quite far into the M8 and fairly close to the sensor. I get pretty good central sharpness but the edges aren't too good. Also It appears that the deeply recessed rear element partly obstructs the meter sensor as all the photos are underexposed between 1 and 2 stops.
