There was a fault in some batches of batteries on a now obsolete model  
of powerbook. I believe there is still discussion between Apple and  
the battery manufacturer over liability. The only winners will be  
lawyers.
I am not sure this is typical enough behaviour to influence a buying  
decision. Anyway I believe Tina wrote that she will continue to use  
her netbook for travel, so we discuss her home based machine here :-)
