That is to say you can elect to copy as DNG (which automatically applies lossless compression too or just copy (both those options will optionally make a second copy at a separate location as well) or move. After tht LR uses the same functionality as your computer will. Remember those functions are simultaneous with the catalog functions. At the same time you are I hjave never had an issue with 10,000 plus image files imported that way in ACR /LR, whereas I have had file copy issues by the old school ways owing to (my) error. I always check that my two new copies are functional on their different drives before later deleting the files in the camera. Embrace LR! it is specifically designed to perform these and many many more functions for photographers. But hey, whatever floats your respective boats you guys!
