Hi,
I am considering playing middleman for an ex-Saudi-oil worker
who purchased a "few" Leicas while there and just keeps them in a box
in his garage. From the description they are probable M4-Ps. I have
yet to look. I should know in a week or so. I hope naturally that
they are mint in box. I don't wish to screw him and certainly don't
want to front the several thousands for the bodies and lenses without
a good idea of fair selling price to dealers for the equipment. If he
does have a few bodies and things work out I might keep one. Leica's
being what they are $$$, this is a unique opportunity if it all works
out.

Selling prices I can scope out by looking at Chatterton,
Tamarkin, and Kuehl ads in Shutterbug. Knowing the real "fair" selling
prices to dealers like them is another thing entirely. I have a copy
of the 5th Ed. 1991 Leica price guide en-route to me now. Presumably,
you people are specialists in this area. Is there a better source as
a price guideline? How good have you found it to be? What is a
typical dealer-to-purchaser markup?

Thanks in advance,
